Altamont Rescue Squad

The Altamont Rescue Squad (ARS) was founded in 1937 and is the oldest volunteer Rescue Squad in NYS. ARS serves the Village of Altamont, portions of the Hilltowns and Guilderland Center. In addition, ARS provides backup to Guilderland, Rotterdam and Voorheesville. The Altamont Rescue Squad works closely with the Town of Guilderland Paramedics, and the Western Turnpike Rescue Squad.ARS also works with the Altamont Fair EMS, assisting and or providing Emergency Medical Services for various events.

About our members

Our members are a diverse group ranging in age from 18 to 80. Well not quite 80 but some days we feel like we are.  Currently, we have a mix of volunteers and paid employees.

Some of our volunteers have been members of the Rescue Squad and serving  the community for over 20 years!!

Volunteers are always needed. If you think you’re interested in joining either as a driver or an EMT(training will be provided), or simply to ride along on calls to assist, and work under the direction on an EMT,  please call 861-6715 to find out more and/or request an application.
